Nowadays, access to freshwater has been a subject of heavy debate. Some claim that the authorities should restrict our freshwater usage, while others insist that we should utilize it freely. I feel that both sides are sensible.

On the one hand, proponents of uncontrolled freshwater use emphasize its relation to human freedom. They think that we should all have the autonomy to decide on how much freshwater we should get, whether it is for personal, business, or agricultural use. They argue that water is vital for basic needs and individual rights, so restricting access to water could hinder personal well-being and economic activities. In addition, water scarcity can be easily resolved in contemporary society. Considering that we are now living in a highly advanced society where technology is ubiquitous, stringent controls on freshwater use are unnecessary. Inventors can easily come up with new water sources to meet people’s water needs.

On the other hand, advocates of water restriction give emphasis to global water crises. Despite the presence of technology, freshwater remains a finite source. Therefore, although water is heavily abundant on our planet, only a small portion of it can actually be used for human consumption. If the governments do not control our usage now, water will deplete fast followed by scarcity and other social issues such as poor hygiene, arid lands, and so on. Moreover, government intervention is essential for equitable distribution. If people freely use this resource, it is highly likely to witness disparities between social classes. Hence, to allocate water resources fairly, the government must control it.

In conclusion, while uninhibited utilization of freshwater appeals to many when considering human right and the availability of technology, I also concur that water regulation by the administration is crucial to avoid global water crises and maintain fair use of water.

Nowadays, more and more individuals are choosing work-from-home and distant-

learning settings over the conventional in-person setups, thanks to the Internet.

However, this phenomenon has brought both benefits and drawbacks to individuals,

but I opine that the former outshines the latter.

On the one hand, it cannot be denied that due to the widespread use of the Internet,

students and workers are unable to concentrate on their tasks. For example, students

are distracted by social media and video games, so they fail to complete their

assignments or understand their lessons. Meanwhile, employees’ output quality and

quantity decrease also due to the distraction caused by online films and online

shopping.

On the other hand, thanks to distance education made possible by the Internet,

students have saved money on their school fees. For instance, during the COVID-19

pandemic, almost all schools globally had to switch to online learning to continue

students’ education from home. Studying online, they were not required to buy books

and even uniforms, let alone pay for their food and transportation going to and from

schools, so they saved tremendous associated school costs.

In addition, employees save time. Compared to long hours of commuting these days

due to heavy traffic, especially during rush hours, employees can start their work and

finish their work early from home online. This has shown an increase in their

productivity and the achievement of work-life balance.

In conclusion, I concur that the advantages of the extensive utilization of the Internet,

either for employment or schooling, namely, saved time and money, outweigh the

drawbacks.

Due to the increasing number of individuals charged with long-term imprisonment, the government considers utilizing education among prisoners to assist them in finding employment after their release and hence lower the crime rate. This measure seems feasible to me, but I find it generally disagreeable.

Admittedly, by educating inmates while they serve their term in jail, they will be provided with the fundamental knowledge they can use to lead a new life when they leave prison. Oftentimes, people turn out to be criminals due to a lack of education, so this educational measure will bring benefits. However, I feel that more than education, increased awareness is what we need to curb crimes. Simply providing prisoners with educational training does not address the major issue from the roots. If the government focuses more on raising people’s understanding of the law, particularly the youngsters in schools, on the consequences of engaging in crimes to the whole society, educating prisoners will no longer be necessary.

Moreover, I am sure that there is no guarantee that convicts will appreciate or take advantage of the education in prison. Some of them find education boring, while others have no interest in education at all. That being the case, it is no doubt a waste of time, money, and other essential resources to supply education to lawbreakers.

In conclusion, despite the somewhat significance of education among prisoners, I concur that more is needed to ensure a low level of crime and a low rate of unemployment. In short, other ways like addressing the issue from the roots through increased law awareness is more essential.
